Take a look at yourself, do you like what you see. Are you as successful as you hope you will be by now? What are your needs, dreams, hopes or desires?
What do you truly want from life?
Do you want wealth, success, happiness or peace of mind? Do you want a big family house with exquisite view, a dream yacht or a snazzy sports car? Are you working towards a particular goal or are you just wandering through life?
Perhaps your goals are small - like losing weight so as to fit in that elegant dress you bought last summer or a little bolder like buying a brand new car. You could be eyeing your retiring supervisor's position or finding your soul mate. Anything you want is possible. I am sure by now you have heard people touting slogans like if you can dream it you can achieve it. Well the truth is such slogans are actually true. Everything you see around you was a thought before it manifest into physical reality. In fact you are good example!
No goal is too small; no dream is too big. Even if you are not clear in your mind as to what your true desires are at this stage, you can tap into your subconscious mind to get the answers and to find the path to your success. The best time to tap into your ever reliable subconscious mind is at your most relaxed state.
Can you change your life - do you want to? Can you picture yourself as a successful person admired by multitude of people? If you have the desire to attain goals, the commitment to follow through and the persistence to withstand all kinds obstacles, then you are on the right track to possess whatever you want. This is pretty much the route followed by many successful leaders and artists throughout the passage of history.
What is going to be your legacy? What are you willing to stake all you have for, is it for the possession of money, health, physical energy, beauty, creativity, recognition, power, great adventure, contentment, wealth, self-expression, authority, love, peace of mind or enlightenment? If you are like most people today, you probably want them all.
On the contrary I bet that if you really look inside and conduct a thorough introspection you might find that there are only few things that really matters to you. In most cases things that matters are love, happiness and inner freedom; freedom to use your talents, to express yourself and to contribute meaningfully in the lives of other people. Not surprisingly that love, happiness and inner freedom are the corner stones of success. When you master these three core pillars of success people will ask "...what is the secret of your success?"
Well the secret is to feel you heart with love. Love should be the primary goal of every person. Whether is a love for a mate, a family, trade or humanity, love is an ageless pursuit. The mystics say that love is the sole purpose of life - to give love and receive love makes us whole. The greatest Teacher has taught us to love God with all our hearts and also to love our neighbours as we love ourselves. Love and be loved.
Love comes in many forms. Not only it is an overt display of affection or true inner feelings, but is also manifestation of self-respect and inner contentment that is brought about by our sense of accomplishment.
Parallel to the three pillars of success mentioned above, I think health should top the list of our priorities. For you to truly enjoy the fruits of your success, you must have a healthy body and live in a healthy environment. It is therefore paramount for all people regardless of background and material possessions to have healthy bodies as a goal featuring high on the list. Here is a double edge sword. To succeed you need a healthy body and to enjoy your success you need to be healthy. So take time to eat healthy and exercise regularly.
While taking care of your health, you need to also take time to evaluate your life and desires. In your solitude, write down three things you truly desire. Hint: before writing look at your present conditions and life in general because the outside is the manifestation of the inside. For example if you are poor, it is because you are poor inside; if your love life is a disaster, is because you do not truly love yourself. Take your time and do some introspection. I suggest that you focus on the inner person (meditation or deep relaxed state will help you reach the inner person in you) and ask yourself the "what are three things I truly desire in my life?" Then take a nap and you will wake up with glimpse of an answer to the question as posed.
Realistically you might have to repeat this process five to ten times until you come up with an answer that resonates with you. Remember "Rome was not built in one day", it takes time build up a person but the most important thing is that you have begun the process that will eventually lead to a journey of self-discovery. Your success is near.
While you are on this lovely journey of self-discovery, without dwelling on your failures and past mistakes, make a list of your important accomplishments in your life so far. Think about the places you went to, your relationships, your involvement in important projects or academic achievements. Think of all your positive achievements.
Once this is done, establish if there is any correlation between the three things you desire most in your life and your past successes? If there is, work hard to achieve even more. If not, this is simply a new beginnings for you.
Most importantly give yourself credit for your past successes and look forward to a brighter future. No matter how horrible your past is, there will always things you have accomplished successfully. You need congratulate yourself for accomplishing these things. For your future, you must truly believe that things you desires are attainable.
